Thanks to funding from Stronger Communities, WEA and the Central and Southern Community Engagement Forums, we are able to run more free training courses this autumn. These are to train residents, volunteers and staff from local organisations as Community Energy Ambassadors!

The course has already run 5 times over the last few years in Selby, Riccall and Tadcaster and has received excellent feedback from participants. The aim is to make energy fun whilst also being informative and providing useful tips and knowledge that can be shared amongst friends, neighbours, relatives and colleagues. Previous experience also shows that you are likely to save money on your own energy bills!

You will learn about where we get our energy from, myths and facts around saving energy, how to understand energy bills, how to switch supplier, how much things cost to run and what schemes are out there to support vulnerable households in the community.

The courses run for 5 weeks, half a day per week, at the following locations:

  • EGGBOROUGH Methodist Chapel, starting 10th September, 9.30am - 1pm
  • SELBY Community House, starting Tues 15th October, 9.30am - 1pm
  • HAMBLETON Village Hall, starting Tues 19th November, 9.30am - 1pm

The courses are fun and practical, groups are approx 8 people, and we will always provide tea, coffee and biscuits! No previous experience is necessary and there is no time commitment required afterwards.
