Over the past few months we have enjoyed making more links with other local voluntary sector organisations who are already doing vital frontline work in the Selby District:

  •     Dementia Forward Selby who provide support for people living with dementia and their carers
  •    Carers Count Selby, for informal/unpaid carers
  •    North Yorkshire Horizons who provide treatment and recovery support to adults with drug  and alcohol dependeny
  •    Kelcbar Centre, Friday coffee morning for older residents

We have been invited along to talk about energy at regular meetings of their existing groups. Talking as a group opens up wide ranging discussions about issues such as switching energy supplier, grants to help with bills and the merits of water meters and smart meters, as well as encouraging people to share top tips on saving energy at home. If there is one thing about energy it is that everyone has comments or experiences to share, usually about problems with energy suppliers!

After an initial talk these outreach groups open up the opportunity to go round and talk to attendees on a one-to-one basis and do individual price comparisons or applications for the Warm Home Discount.
