We are very pleased to have been awarded a grant from the Northern Powergrid Community Energy Seed Fund at the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear Northumberland. This will enable us to run two community energy projects in the Selby District.

We can offer:

- An energy audit for your community building which identifies ways you can become more energy efficient and reduce your running costs.

- A community energy saving event to advise local residents on switching energy supplier and ways to reduce household energy costs (tailored to your interests)

- 5 home energy visits to give individual households tailored energy saving advice.

Who can apply? The project is open to any community in the Selby District where there is a local community building.

What are the timescales? The project will run throughout 2015 so we can work with you to agree timescales that meet your needs.

What are we looking for? We are looking for communities who:

  • Are proactive
  • Feel that energy costs are a real issue in their community, both in terms of running their community building and for local residents
  • Are happy to act as exemplars to show other communities what can be achieved
  • Would like to explore further energy related projects to benefit the community in the future
  • Can identify a group or a couple of individuals who would act as local leads for this project.

How to apply? You will need to complete a short expression of interest form and return it to us. You can access this here: The closing date for applications is Friday 13th March.

If you would prefer a Word version of this form email

How will you choose who to work with? We will make our decision based on the information provided in the expression of interest form. Priority will be given to communities with a clear commitment to this type of project and with good ideas of how to engage with local residents.
