Over the last two months we have delivered 12 slow cooker demo sessions in Scarborough, Whitby, Selby, Malton, Settle and Skipton. These sessions don’t involve any cooking but do give top tips and inspiration on how slow cookers can be used to cook a variety of food, from bread to cakes, from stews to puddings. At a typical cost of 7p per hour compared to 70p for an electric oven, they are a much cheaper way to cook food. Thanks to funding from North Yorkshire County Council, attendees have been able to take away a free slow cooker to use this winter.
The sessions have also been a great way to share other information to 160 attendees on energy bill support schemes, energy saving tips, Priority Services Register and carbon monoxide awareness.
We look forward to running more across North Yorkshire in the New Year!
