The project is run by Community First Yorkshire in partnership with ourselves, Howardian Hills National Landscape, North Yorkshire Sport, North Yorkshire Together, North Yorkshire Youth, Rural Arts, and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. We will be helping communities take local climate action in areas that are important to them.
Our role is to support VCSE to develop sustainability action plans. For many organisations in the voluntary sector, leading by example and reducing their environmental impact is really important, but time and resource pressures make it difficult to take strategic action. We will be able to provide support and advice to help organisations maximise the benefits of embedding sustainability actions, whether your priorities are to save money, contribute to charitable objectives, benefit the local community, meet the requirements of funders, or tackle climate change. We can offer:
1) Sustainability audits and action planning We can help you to work our your carbon footprint and costs associated with running your operations, and look at short- and longer-term actions you could take to reduce your environmental impact in areas such as energy use, transport, water use, waste, procurement and land use.
2) Sustainability champions training Equip staff and volunteers with knowledge around environmental sustainability and its relevance to the VCSE sector.
