Community Engagement

Are you involved with a community group?

We can come along to your group to give advice to your members about saving energy, reducing energy bills and being warm and well at home. This could be through a talk, hosting a stand or running a workshop. This is usually free of charge providing it falls under one of our grant-funded projects.

Specific projects:

Young People with Energy

Through this project we are keen to directly engage with 16-25 year olds who may be moving into their first tenancy or who are dealing with bills for the first time. Over the last year we have run energy saving workshops and given talks at the Redcar Climate Change conference for young people, the Warren Youth Project in Hull, Door 84 in York, Tadcaster Grammar School, groups organised through the Diana Awards and with students from York University.

Warm Homes Healthy Children

Over winter 2022/23 we will be running slow cooker demo workshops for families with children.

Heating for Health

We have given in-person talks at groups such as Parkinson’s Support York, Dementia support groups in Selby and mental health support groups. We can also offer online talks to groups anywhere in North/East/West Yorkshire or the Northeast.

Big Energy Saving Network

This project aims to get out and about into the community to reach households who may not seek out energy advice. So far we have done drop-ins at Selby Food Bank, Selby Community Fridge, Selby Library and various Anchor-Hanover managed residences.
