Community Energy Adviser 

£27,334 (pro rata)

15 hours per week 

Fixed term contract (end date: 31st March 2026)

Due to demand and extra funding, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team for winter 25/26.

We are looking for a Community Energy Adviser  who can

  • deliver energy outreach sessions to community groups, and
  • provide 1-2-1 practical advice, support and advocacy to help households reduce their energy bills and be safe, warm and well. 

We are looking for someone who is proactive, empathetic and wants to make a difference to people. You will have excellent communication skills, an understanding of the current challenges facing low income and vulnerable households, and experience of working in the voluntary sector and/or within local communities. Knowledge of energy saving issues and ways to reduce bills is desirable, but training and support will be provided.

Hours

Up to 15 hours per week (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm). There is flexibility in terms of when the hours can be worked during the week and there will be an expectation that they are adjusted in line with community groups/events etc.

Location

The role will be home-based but the post-holder will be expected to attend events/groups at community venues. These are likely to be primarily in and around the Selby area but could be up to a 30-minute drive of Selby so capacity to travel is desirable.
